Melts snow & ice. Halite. Home use: evenly sprinkle 1/2 to 1 cup of Morton Safe-T-Salt rock salt per square yard on driveways, steps, porches, and other walkways. Sufficient melting should occur within 30 minutes. Promptly remove the slush formed. Do not use on brick or flagstone walkways having mortar joints. Spread Morton Safe-T-Salt rock salt while snow is falling. This will prevent snow and ice from becoming hard packed and sticking to walkway surfaces. Use 1/2 cup per square yard. Remove as soon as snowfall ends. Car use: When car is stuck on snow or on ice, spread Morton Safe-T-Salt rock salt generously under the wheels to provide traction. Ice cream & Ices: Mix 1 part Morton Safe-T-Salt rock salt with 8 parts crushed ice. Fill freezer tub with thick mixture well above the line of the mix in the cream container. Turn crank slowly, increasing speed as the mixture begins to freeze. Ice cream will freeze in approximately 15 minutes. Ices and sherbets require somewhat longer. To complete freezing process, draining off brine and pack tub in a mixture of 3 parts ice to 1 part salt. Let stand for at least 30 minutes before serving. Fast Cooling Sprinkle Morton Safe-T-Salt rock salt liberally over ice in which beverages (cans or bottles) or watermelon have been placed. This will result in more rapid cooling at lower temperatures than is possible with ice alone. Warnings: Any product which is effective in melting ice and snow may accelerate damage to certain concrete surfaces.
