Add meat to make a complete meal. Serves 8. 50% more than regular size. A New Orleans tradition since 1889. This easy-to-prepare dinner mix has just the right blend of ingredients for a great tasting, authentic New Orleans style meal. Zatarain's has been the leader in authentic New Orleans style food since 1889. So when you want great flavor, jazz it up with Zatarain's! Easy Stove Top: Jambalaya can be prepared with your choice of 1-1/2 pounds of smoked sausage, chicken (precooked), ham or shrimp cut into bite-size pieces. 1. In a 2-1/2 quart saucepan, combine 3-3/4 cups water, 2 tbsp vegetable oil (optional), bring to boil. 2. Add Zatarain's Jambalaya Mix and meat, return mixture to a boil. 3. Reduce heat, stir, cover and simmer over Low heat for 25 minutes or until most of the water has been absorbed. 4. Remove from heat, let stand 5 minutes. Fluff and serve. Note: If seafood is used, add after 10 minutes of cooking time. Return to boil and cook 15 minutes. Microwave: 1. In a 2-1/2 quart microwave safe casserole dish, combine 3-3/4 cups hot water, 2 tbsp vegetable oil (optional), 1 pound of meat and Zatarain's Jambalaya Mix. 2. Cover and cook on High for 25 minutes (cook time may differ depending on the power of the microwave oven.), stirring occasionally. 3.Stir and let stand covered for 5 minutes before serving. Serving Suggestions: For a milder flavor add 1/2 cups rice and 3/4 cup water. Use chicken or seafood for mild Jambalaya. Use smoked sausage for spicier, stronger flavored Jambalaya.
